Monthly Box

Monthly boxes: from babies to beer

August 26, 2014 by Emily McLaren Leave a Comment

Monthly subscription boxes are really growing in popularity, especially ones like Graze that offer a regular box of healthy foods but some of the best boxes and start-ups have been overlooked so I’ve put together this small selection of boxes that suit anything from babies to beer lovers.

The Rainy Day Box Co

Praised by the BBC and Netmums, Rainy Day Box was created after mother of one Aly was faced with a rainy day and a hyperactive son. She put together a box of fun things to entertain them both on those boring, rainy days and realised she’d accidentally found a gap in the market.

The Rainy Day Box Co has four box options, three of which are £9.99 and if you’re not entirely sure what you want, there is a ‘trial’ box for only £4.99.

To give you an idea, though, ‘The Original Box’ comes with goodies such as cookie mixes, animal masks, make your own keyrings, snakes and ladders and a selection of stickers.

My Geek Box

For the teenager (or shameless adult) in your life, there is My Geek Box. This is a montly box starting at £14.99 per month. Every month is a different theme from Animation (Adventure Time etc) to Oldschool (pictured), there is a range of goodies in each box that would all together cost £40+ bought separately.

All you have to do to start receiving the monthly boxes is sign up, select your t-shirt size and wait. The boxes are mystery each month which means you’ll always end the month with a box of surprise treasure trove goodies. From what I can tell from the past boxes, they’re very current with popular tv shows and themes (like zombies- The Walking Dead).

Beer 52

As far as start-ups go, Beer 52’s back story is definitely my favourite. Beer 52 founder James Brown (yep) fell in love with craft beer on a road trip from his home in Edinburgh to Faro which is in Portugal on the back of his dad’s Harley Davidson. They stopped at pubs along the way that stocked beers he’d never even heard of before and on that awesome road trip, he thought of Beer 52.

Beer 52 is a monthly box containing 8 exclusive craft beers from independent brewers delivered for free at a cost of only £24 per month. Incredible value for money! And BEER!
